What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD? It is a mental disorder that is usually caused by some sort of assault or accident. Many times this is the only type of mental health disorder that people have because their mind has been completely scarred. They are no longer able to process what happened in a normal fashion. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be defined as an emotional state that is caused by something bad happening to you.

The body goes through some changes when something bad happens to you and your mind starts to associate those experiences as a form of stress or danger. This is why so many people suffer from this disorder; it is not because they have poor parenting skills or other issues. It is because a person has gone through something painful.

When a person is suffering from PTSD they may have nightmares and flashbacks that will last for days. Some people who have PTSD may also have a fear of being alone for any length of time. The level of pain that can be felt is sometimes so severe that it will immobilize the person for even a short period of time. Some common symptoms of PTSD include flashbacks, nightmares, and panic attacks. The levels of these symptoms can vary greatly depending on the person. Some people may only experience dreams and nightmares while others may have full-blown panic attacks. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious condition and if not treated properly it can have dire consequences.
